UPB celebrates PE day with a cause

BY RICHMOND TABANGCURA

In celebration of Physical Education (PE) Day, the University of the Philippines Baguio (UPB) community, including students, faculty members, and staffs conducted a Dance Aerobic for a Cause in Himnasyo Amianan, May 29.

The goal of the event was to raise funds for the medical treatment of Romelyn Fernandez, a laboratory technician from the College of Science, currently diagnosed with breast cancer.

A total of 65 students participated in the event which was led by Joshua Laureta, a PE instructor and lecturer, together with the other members of the Human Kinetics Program (HKP) faculty.

Tenured faculty of HKP, Fernando Florendo, expressed his affirmation brought by the event.

“Nakakatuwa ‘yung event, actually… saktong-sakto para sa mga students. Kumbaga ito yung naging stress reliever nila after ng online classes noong pandemic. So hindi lang sila nakakatulong, nag-enjoy and na-relieve din yung stress nila,” Florendo said.

The Dance Aerobics for a cause was able to gather more or less 3,000 pesos excluding the on-going e-wallet donation drives.
